Wine Caccia al Piano, Bolgheri DOC Superiore, 2021

Wine “Ruit Hora”, which translated from Latin means “time flies” or “rush hour”, named after a poem signed XIX century Italian poet and Nobel Prize winner Giosu Carducci, who spent his childhood in Castagneto. It Supertuscan wine has exceptional elegance, excellent structure and impressive, very complex aroma. Exposure of wine for 14 months in oak barrels and six months in bottles only strengthened the magnificent quality of grapes from one of the most exclusive areas of viticulture in Bolgheri – Castagneto Carducci.

Manor Caccia al Piano 1868, acquired in 2003 by a group of Guido Berlucchi, located in Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of Bolgheri, the home of some of the most prestigious wines in Tuscany. The winery owns 20 hectares of vineyards, divided into three sections, which are located at different heights and have different exposure. Here, in accordance with the classification and Bolgheri DOC Bolgheri Superiore DOC grown only red grape varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards have a high stocking density – 10,000 vines per hectare, it promotes a high level of quality of the crop. On the vine is left only 5 bunches on the vine, which ensures greater concentration of flavors. Caccia al Piano annually produces about 100,000 bottles of red wine (“Ruit Hora” and “Levia Gravia”). Both wines have excellent structure, excellent balance and longevity.

The history and the creation of outstanding things often starts with a dream. It is a dream began in the mid 1950s, the history of the winery Guido Berlucchi, which is considered the most successful creator of sparkling wines. In the cellars in the province of Brescia Borgonato young winemakers Berluchchi Guido and Giorgio Lanchani set to realization of his dream – the creation of high-quality sparkling wine, capable of competing with champagne. While it was a very ambitious undertaking, as young producers had no proper equipment or materials, nor the fundamental experience. With great enthusiasm and zeal, they created wine “Pinot del Castello”, which, however, had problems with stability. In 1954, the company entered into their enterprising winemaker Franco Dziliani by then graduated from a reputable institution oenology Alba. Together they will be a hard way of trial and error before the 1961 release of 3000 bottles of delicious sparkling wine “Pinot di Franciacorta”, the Italians conquered. From that time to the company “Guido Berlucchi” unprecedented success came, and with it the order for 20 000, and then 100 000 bottles, turning the dream into reality, and the dream into reality.

Today the winery “Guido Berluchchi” adapts advanced technology of winemaking with a huge experience in the production of sparkling wines. In the last decade the company has launched a new course – the creation of high-quality products through the modernization of equipment and the acquisition of new wineries. So, in 2003, the winery was bought by Caccia al Piano 1868 in Bolgheri. The new generation of Guido Berluchchi today presented his sons Franco and Christina Dziliani – Arturo and Paolo, who are actively involved in the family business. Now they produce about 5 million bottles a year, carefully keeping the highest quality.
