Wine Friesland, “M-Klas” Cabernet Sauvignon, 2022

Friesland, “M-Klas” Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine dedicated to the owner’s wife, Marilisa, who is as beautiful as this wine, and expresses strength, beauty and elegance. The grapes for its production were obtained from old Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch. After fermentation, 80% of the wine was aged for 14 months in new 300-liter French oak barriques, and the rest in old barrels. According to the producer, the wine will be perfectly stored for 10 to 30 years.
The 2022 vintage received a Double Gold Medal at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Competition.

The label of the Friesland terroir wines features a landscape with a windmill, which is linked to the memories of De Bruijn’s late father, Cosey, who grew up in Sutherland, the coldest town and the capital of astronomical observations in the Karoo. The windmill on the Friesland farm symbolises Cosey’s roots.
