Wine Friesland, Sauvignon Blanc, 2023

Friesland, Sauvignon Blanc is a dry white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on high, cool slopes with weathered shale-sand soils. The cool conditions in January and February 2023 contributed to a slow and even ripening, which provided the grapes with an exceptional concentration of flavor. After fermentation, the wine was kept on the lees as long as possible and stirred regularly to improve the taste sensations.
The 2023 vintage received a gold medal at the international Gilbert & Gaillard competition.

The label of the Friesland terroir wines features a landscape with a windmill, which is linked to the memories of De Bruijn’s late father, Cosey, who grew up in Sutherland, the coldest town and the capital of astronomical observations in the Karoo. The windmill on the Friesland farm symbolises Cosey’s roots.
