Wine Kurtatsch, “Penon” Pinot Grigio, Sudtirol Alto Adige DOC, 2020

“Penoner” – excellent dry white wine from the region of South Tyrol, made from Pinot Grigio, which grows on the steep slopes of the hills at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. Soil, which grows grapes – predominantly sandy, with gravel content. For cooking wine selects only the ripest and best berries. Grape soft pressing procedure runs by a pneumatic press. Fermentation of the wort is carried out partly in steel containers at controlled temperature, and partially (10%) – in previously used drums. Due to the exposure of vineyards, terroir and coordinated work of winemakers, wine “Penoner” has become a rich, mellow and well-balanced taste with mineral tones and fruity aroma with notes of mandarin, peach, apple and gooseberry.

Winery Kurtatsch is located in the southern part of South Tyrol. The area is characterized by a special microclimate. Summer temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius are not uncommon, warm autumn days alternating with cold nights. This allows manufacturers to bring the ripening of the grapes to the point of “Hang Time”, where the optimal maturity coincides with the excellent level of acidity. From such grapes get rich, intensely fruity, rich red wines and elegant, floral and fragrant white wine. Vineyards farms are located on the slopes and hills at an altitude of 200 to 900 meters above sea level and is considered to be unique.

Most of the best wines in the world is produced from grapes grown on calcareous soils.
