“Rubesco” Rosso di Torgiano got its name from the Latin word “rubesco”, which means “to blush.” Due to its unparalleled quality and affordable price, this wine is the most popular wine Lungarotti company worldwide. The label shows a portion of an ancient bas-relief of the fountain of the XIII century. “Rubesko” – is balanced, mellow wine made from grapes grown on sunny hillsides. After harvest in late September-early October is fermented grapes and maceration for 15 days in stainless steel tanks, then 10-12 months aged in oak barrels and 12 months – in bottles. Storage capacity “Rubesko” is from 8 to 10 years.
“Rubesko”, as well as other wine Lungarotti, was one of the first Italian wines that have received the status of DOC, which means that you can be sure of the highest quality of this excellent wine.

Giorgio Lungarotti founded economy Cantine Giorgio Lungarotti in the early 60-ies of XX century, it is one of the devotees of modern high-quality wine. Currently Wineries Giorgio Lungarotti continue his 2 daughters – Chiara and Teresa. Their desire for new things while respecting the family tradition was the impetus for the development of winemaking in the region as a whole. Thanks to their efforts in 1968 wine area Torgiano (Torgiano) one of the first obtained the status of DOC, and since 1983 harvest wines of this region have a classification DOCG.
The company also Lungarotti cultivates olive trees and produces excellent balsamic vinegar. A huge role in the company plays the wife of Giorgio Lungarotti – Maria Grazia Marchetti, which attaches great importance to the culture of wine consumption and its long history. Thanks to her, in 1974, the company opened Lungarotti Wine Museum, which is located in the palace of the XVII century, and in 2000 the Museum was opened olive oil.

In the possession of the family Lungarotti are 260 hectares of vineyards, of which 40 hectares are located in Torgiano and 20 ha – in Montefalco. Great value for the owners of the company plays a respect for the environment, so the vineyards are cultivated using biodynamic methods. Every year the vines heavily cropped to lower yields, thereby significantly improving the quality of the grapes.
