Wine Tenuta di Trinoro, “Petit Sancaba” Pinot Nero, Toscana IGT, 2023

Petit Sancaba is the second wine of the estate, made from grapes from the youngest Pinot Noir vineyard, planted in 2019, and from the second harvest grapes from the remaining vineyards. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks with 25% whole bunches of grapes, without immersion of the cap and only with light pumpings aimed at reducing extraction to a minimum. A rapid rise of about 6 months took place in steel tanks. The result is a wine with a low alcohol content of 12.5%, pale in colour, fresh, pronounced fruitiness, a dynamic sip and great aromatic intensity, offering immediate enjoyment.

2023 was a wet and damp year, one of the most challenging vintages in the last decade in terms of fungal diseases, especially for those practicing organic certified farming in the vineyard. The heavy rainfall created conditions for a strong presence of mold in the vineyards, which severely undermined the Pinot Noir harvest, especially in the young Pian etto vineyard used to produce Petit Sancaba . As a result, only 1,300 bottles were produced in 2023. The end result was a wine that was more concentrated in color and structure than usual.
