Wine Tenuta La Fuga, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, 2019

Brunello di Montalcino wine is made from selected grapes Sangiovese, which is grown on the estate La Fuga at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, located on the southwestern slope of Montalcino near the village of Camigliano. Stocking density – 4000-5500 vines per hectare. Crop harvested in mid-October, when the berries reached full maturity. Fermentation in tanks made of stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 28 C. Then, a 15-day maceration on the skins and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine is aged for 36 months in barrels of Slavonian oak volume of 30-40 hectoliters, and after bottling – for at least another 12 months in bottles.

Wine History Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari began at the end of the XVIII century with Fratelli Folonari, who took on the mission of improving the production and distribution of wines of Italy’s best wines around the world. Since that time, the firm had a lot of ups and downs, different owners, but still Folonari is one of the most representative wine firms Tuscany. In 1912, my grandfather Ambrogio – Italo Folonari and his brother Francesco purchased the Tuscan company Ruffino, known for the production of Chianti wine in braided straw bottle. At the end of the 60s family Folonari sold by Fratelli Folonari, mainly produces table wines, and began to specialize in the manufacture of wine estate-bottled. In 2000, Ambrogio stood apart from Ruffino and founded with his son holding Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which included the best farms in Tuscany:

– The estate Tenuta Campo al Mare, producing wines Bolgheri Vermentino and Rosato;
– The estate Tenuta TorCalvano Gracciano, producing wine Nobile di Montepulciano, Rosso di Montepulciano;
– The estate Tenuta Vigne a Porrona, producing wine Montecucco, Morellino, Syrah, Merlot.
Wines and Giovanni Ambrogio Folonari have a modern style, each of the wines has a distinct territorial identity.
